Traditional Hmong New Year Celebration - At a glance
Traditional Handcrafted Hmong embroidery
It is taught from the High Heavens that there is not a specific date for the Hmong to celebrate their New Year. However, there is a span of time that a New Year can be celebrated for the main purpose of allowing time to give respect to the ancestors, elders, and the creator of our Universe. This span of time is believed to be between the starting date of the first new moons in November to the first new moon of December of each year. It is also believed to be between the starting date of the first new moon of January (which being that the first new moon is much less than approximately 50% and usually ends up being celebrated in the latter part of January to earlier part of February) to he first new moon of February. This is also the reason why we see others around the world celebrating their New Year celebrations at other times of the calendar year. Which does not make them or anyone incorrect for doing so.
A Hmong celebrations of the New Year, for it's root purpose, consists of cleansing of the home, then the Three Kneelings, praying and paying respect to our three Great Fathers who brought us to know love, life, family, and the values as our ancestor once knew as we know it to this day. It also brings the remembering and paying of respect to our Great ancestors with tradition of wearing of new traditional clothing made with newly woven materials, a meal with fresh poultry meats and traditional dishes, and dancing, singing and entertainment filled celebration along with socializing with the young and old. Another thing that occurs during this time is the seeking and meeting of new beaus and beauties through a ball tossing and traditional singing or dancing event participation. This celebration would last for as long as seven days. ~ FLT

A Brief Summary of Hmong Spirituality and Belief
Shaman Sword of Justice
Hmong Shamanism or Shamanism in it and of itself is not a religion. However, it is believed that one can be helped and healed spiritually and physically by a Shaman, also known as a spiritual healer, mediator, warrior of realms, and sometimes a born gifted psychic and guider to all who seeks guidance, as results have shown in the past and felt here in the present.
A true spiritual healer is usually born gifted and practices are mostly based from spiritual learnings and not from any physical mentor or teacher (sifu). It is the path of self-discovery that connects the healer to their true purpose and abilities. A natural born spiritual healer may also have various human mentors or spirit guides that may have appeared to him without his choosing to teach him something specific or general. The teachings and learning will then be passed on for use in a later situation. A seeker must be open in heart and mind to willingly be able to receive and learn from any good energies that opens up to him for a soul purpose to healing himself.
Look to the Sun, Moon, Stars, and Universe. It is believed that no one shall be trusted to tell the truth of this knowledge and no one person shall believe it until they have experienced it's truths for themselves. Only then, the physical properties of spiritually said truth will appear in hand, at foot, and through ones own eyes and ears to know it's innerly significance. ~ Peaceful blessing from Master PaLiChee
